Rocket Man

When you get to be as old as I am, and how old I am is none of your business, you can look back over your life and see that you’ve actually lived several lives at the same time, because you are always growing and changing, or at least you should be.

People wiser than I am say that you have to realize that you are not the same person you were a year ago, or 5 years ago, and most assuredly not the same as 10, 20 or 30 years ago. And that’s the way it should be. If you’re on the right path you should be adapting and changing by dealing with all the crap you came here to experience.

Unfortunately, some of us get stuck at a certain period of our lives by not being able to cope with the emotional scenarios that are intended to teach us skills to use when we encounter the same problems again.

I’m thinking of people who can’t move past a bad romantic breakup, the death of a loved one, or any kind of major loss that challenges your emotional stability.

It’s very hard to imagine that when these things happen, we actually planned for them to be in our lives so we could work through them and come out the other side perhaps a little sadder but wiser, knowing that we have the spiritual fortitude to face down that particular hurt and still survive.

So my guide, Jasper, who has no patience for this type of human wallowing in self pity, showed up as Elton John, one of his faves, singingĀ Rocket Man, not because the lyric is especially relevant, but because he says you should think of your entire earth incarnation as a three stage rocket, with each stage being essential to launching the next one.

In the first stage are all the fear, anger and guilt you’ve built up in this life, and perhaps some leftover from past lives that you swore you were going to work on and get rid of this time around.

You absolutely must do a lot of reflecting and self examination to determine what your fears are, what you’re angry about, and why you have guilt. All this can take a fair amount of time, especially if you are doing your Cleopatra, Queen of Denial imitation. Fortunately, I’ve written a book, and here comes the shameless plug, about how I dealt with my issues titledĀ Clearing The Track, which is available on this website, and also Amazon.com.

There is absolutely no way you can get stage one of your rocket to drop off and ignite stage two until you have dealt with the issues it contains, but once you do, stage two is all about ABT, which stands for allowing for the existence of your guides, believing that they are there to help you, and then trusting that they will do just that. Personally, I think this is the most rewarding and fun filled stage. It’s when you begin to realize that you are connected to the whole universe through your guides, and that, as the old saying goes, you are a spiritual being having a human experience, and not the other way around.

You also acquire a permanent and always present BFF. Literally a best friend forever that you can always be sure will be there for you. Hard to imagine when so many of the people that come and go in your life do exactly the opposite, but a lot of those people were meant to cross paths with you to teach you something, so we should be grateful they were there, instead of wishing bad things on them.

You may be thinking that once you have the second stage you don’t even care what the third stage might be, but it consists of all the things you think you want, your goals if you will, and for most people these things fall into one of 3 categories: relationships, money/career, and health. The good news is, once you have acquired everything in stage two, it doesn’t have to drop of to ignite stage three. It actually provides the power for you to get whatever you want that you have packed into that third stage.

Me: So, Jasper, since stage two doesn’t drop off to ignite stage three, wouldn’t this actually be a two stage rocket?

Jasper: Technically, yes, but don’t be a pain in the ass and screw up a perfectly good analogy.

These are the kinds of discussions we have. Get connected with your guide, and you, too can have witty and stimulating talks.

But I digress.

The point is, once you get fully connected with your guides, you will realize that it’s not about getting the relationship, money/career, or good health that you want, even though it will be great to have what you want in those areas. It’s more about the emotions of joy, happiness and fulfillment that achieving what you want brings with it.

Until next time, as always, I wish you love and light.
